My Favorite Paranormal Books

Last week, I had to skip my Favorite Reads Blog because of the cover reveal for my new book, Kai (A Dark Assassins Novel Book One).  It will be released this Tuesday, July 26th, 2016.

In honor of my new release, and the paranormal genre that inspired the Dark Assassins Series, I have included three paranormal romance books that I would highly recommend.

Happy Reading!!

Fury by Laurann Dohner

Book 1 in the New Species series. While each New Species book is a standalone, the greatest enjoyment will come from reading them in series order.

Ellie is horrified to discover the pharmaceutical company she works for is doing illegal experiments. Company scientists have spliced human and animal DNA, creating exotic new species. One such “experiment” captures her heart and she’ll do anything to save him—even if he hates her for it.

Fury has never known compassion or love. He’s spent his life in a cell, chained and abused by humans. The one woman he allowed himself to trust betrayed him. Now he’s free and set on vengeance. He vows to end her life but when she’s finally in his grasp, harming her is the last thing he wants to do to the sexy little human.

Fury can’t resist Ellie—the touch of her hands, her mouth on his skin, her body wrapped around his. He’s obsessed with the scent of his woman. And Ellie wants Fury—always has. She craves his big, powerful body and wants to heal his desolate heart.

But loving Fury is one thing…taming him is another.

My Rating and Review

This is an original book that I became fascinated with from page one. Ellie was a refreshing heroine, who put her life in danger to keep others safe, time and time again. Fury was a wonderfully written alpha male, and the two of them made a fantastic couple. The book kept me intrigued throughout and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series! Absolutely Stunning!!

The Unleashing (Call of Crows #1) by Shelly Laurenston

Winging It

Kera Watson never expected to face death behind a Los Angeles coffee shop. Not after surviving two tours lugging an M16 around the Middle East. If it wasn’t for her hot Viking customer showing up too late to help, nobody would even see her die.

In uncountable years of service to the Allfather Odin, Ludvig “Vig” Rundstrom has never seen anyone kick ass with quite as much style as Kera. He knows one way to save her life–but she might not like it. Signing up with the Crows will get Kera a new set of battle buddies: cackling, gossiping, squabbling, party-hearty women. With wings. So not the Marines.

But Vig can’t give up on someone as special as Kera. With a storm of oh-crap magic speeding straight for L.A., survival will depend on combining their strengths: Kera’s discipline, Vig’s loyalty… and the Crows’ sheer love of battle. Boy, are they in trouble.

My Rating and Review

When I started this book, I was immersed in the world that I loved from the beginning. This is my first Shelly Laurenston book, and it definitely won’t be my last. While the romance between Vig and Kera was sweet and hot and worth the read alone, I also enjoyed how we learned about the crows and the ravens, among other clans as we watched Kera develop into her own, as a crow. The multiple POV’s were great, and the book made me laugh out loud several times. But it also reminds us about the sacrifices veterans have made for our country, and the contributions we can make in order to help them reintegrate back into life as a civilian. It was a wonderful book that I can’t say enough about. I usually wait awhile before I re-read a book, but after this review, I’m going to do just that. The Unleashing is a Must Read!!!

The Wish List by Gabi Stevens

Kristin Montgomery is more than a little shocked when her aunts inform her they’re fairy godmothers. Worse, after dropping that bombshell they hand her a wand and head off on a world cruise. Now Kristin’s uncomplicated life as a CPA in San Diego has disappeared like magic and she not only has to deal with her burgeoning magical powers, but also a reluctant—and distractingly sexy—magical arbiter.

Tennyson Ritter is a historian. A scholar by choice, he is yanked from his studies to act as arbiter for the newly chosen fairy godmother. He doesn’t want to waste his time with a woman who doesn’t know anything about magic or the magical world, but soon the beguiling Kristin draws him away from his books and into her life.

But before Kristin can hone her skills and pass the tests necessary to fully claim her powers, she and Tennyson must work together to defend the world – both magical and human – against those that would claim her powers for their own.

My Rating and Review

I really enjoyed the world of fairy godmothers, wizards, and sorcerers. Kristin and Tennyson were a great couple, and I found the book funny, sexy, and at some parts, suspenseful. It was a great read and I can’t wait for the next one!!!

My New Release

Kai Promo Book Cover

There are two words that described Kai.

Remote and Deadly.

And until six months ago, he was fine with that description. But when the vampire assassin spots a curvaceous woman, a human no less, who would come to fill his thoughts, he would gladly shake his persona for a moment in time with her. Instead, he kept his distance, watching out for her and learning more about her every time their paths crossed. But he had yet to speak to her. When a turn of events thrusts her into his solitary life, he must decide whether to complete his assignment, or protect her.

Olivia Sabin had dedicated her life to her work; finding a cure for cancer. She had hidden behind the mask of a scientist who cares little about anything beyond her laboratory, and for a long while she believed it herself. But when a mysterious man came to frequent the diner she visited nightly, her awareness of him devastated her concentration, and she came to look forward to the glimpses of him, however brief.

When she stumbles upon a horrific experiment at work, she knows he’s the only one she can turn to. She’s willing to sacrifice everything in order to protect him and others of his kind from the same fate. But first, she needs to find a way to get him to hear her explanation.
