Favorite Authors

I became a romance novel junkie by reading as many Harlequin series books as I could.  This was well over a decade ago 😉 and I remember that I really enjoyed several of their recurring authors, but before long, there was one author that stood out to me.

Diana Palmer.

Each book drew me in from the first page.  They were always emotional, filled with angst, because you never knew if the hero and heroine would end up together.  Diana Palmer created wonderfully complex and sometimes damaged characters that refused to believe that either the heroine or the hero were destined for them.  As you made you way through the story, you rooted for the couple as they got to know each other, dealt with issues that threatened to tear them apart, and blew a relieved breath when they finally fell in love.  Diana Palmer is one of the few romance authors that don’t believe the characters fall in love at first sight.  The characters learn about themselves before they fall and it makes the story satisfying at the end.

I have read her entire library, even going back to find out-of-print books at used bookstores and online, and to this day, I go back and re-read several books in her library as she continues to be one of my favorite authors.  Below are three of my absolute favorite Diana Palmer books.

Happy Reading!!

Passion Flower

As a successful New York interior designer, Jennifer King led a hectic, fast-paced life. So when a sudden illness cost her her job, she jumped at the chance of a working vacation at a Texas ranch.

But life with Everett Culhane, the brooding, dark-eyed owner of the Circle C Ranch, was not easy. According to him, their lives were two worlds apart. But when he took her in his arms and branded her lips with his, Jennifer knew that she must make this headstrong cowboy her own.

My Rating and Review

I have an old paperback of Passion Flower and I was thrilled to find in on Kindle.  I have loved Diana Palmer books for many years, and this is one of my favorites.  The moment Jenny meets Everett, the man is rough and unfriendly, but he sees that Jenny is in need of a sanctuary and he offers her a place on his ranch.  The love between the two takes a while to develop and because of this, the ending is sweet and perfect.  I love this book!!

The Patient Nurse

Dr. Ramon Cortero’s patient, Nurse Noreen Kensington, has a serious case of heartache. Maybe the only remedy is a dose of old-fashioned tender loving care from the seductive doctor! But Ramon’s stormy history with Noreen made him the one man she didn’t want rescuing her now that she was ill.

When truths about the past are revealed, Ramon is determined to make things right with the woman who’s haunted his dreams for so long. But will this patient doctor be able to mend Noreen’s broken heart before it’s too late?

My Rating and Review

The story between Ramon and Noreen is very complicated.  Ramon was married to Noreen’s cousin, but due to unforeseen circumstances, her cousin passed away and Noreen was blamed for her death.  When Noreen’s own medical issues come front and center years later, Ramon realizes how wrong he and others have been blaming Noreen for something that wasn’t her fault.  I don’t want to give too much away because it will ruin the story, but I love this story and the characters, and highly recommend it!!

Diamond Girl

All Denny Cole ever noticed was her typing speed. But Kenna Dean promised herself that one day the Atlanta lawyer would see beyond his efficient secretary to the woman beneath. It seemed an uphill battle until Denny’s partner and stepbrother Regan decided to make her over to catch Denny’s eye. But the “solution” backfired when Regan became the problem. She’d distrusted him on sight until he swept her into his practiced arms to an ecstasy she’d never known before. He was grooming her for another man, but suddenly Kenna wanted to capture only Regan’s heart.

My Rating and Review

Another complicated but thoroughly wonderful story from Diana Palmer.  Kenna is Denny’s assistant and wants to attract his attention, but finds herself unable to.  When Denny’s brother, Regan, joins the law firm, Kenna finds herself butting heads with Regan while being teased of her attraction to Regan’s younger brother.  When Regan offers to help Kenna draw Denny’s attention, she accepts but realizes soon enough that she has no idea what she was in for.  This is a sweet and heartbreaking story, but the ending is satisfying and I can’t help but read it over and over again!!
