Favorite Reads – October 9th, 2016
For the next several Sundays, I will be featuring three books from some of my favorite romance authors. These romance authors inspired me to write, in their own different ways, and I would like to share exactly what I like about each author.
Today’s featured author is J.S. Scott.
I first discovered J.S. Scott about two years ago when I picked up her first book in her Billionaire’s Obsessions Series. I loved the complex characters she creates in each story, and while sometimes the subject matter is heavy, by the time you reach the end of the book, you can’t help but fall in the love with the book and the characters in it.
The relationships are fierce and sexy. The heroes are intense and wildly protective, sometimes even possessive of the heroines, but the heroines are just as strong and self-sufficient. While the love scenes are vivid and emotional, the characters are the reason I go back to J.S. Scott’s books, time and time again.
Below are three, of the many, books I have read that I would like to recommend.
Called an eccentric beast by the citizens of Amesport, Maine, handsome, sensual billionaire Grady Sinclair stays isolated in his mansion on a private peninsula. The arrangement suits Grady just fine—until an unassuming woman rings his doorbell, awaking his long dormant passion with her fearlessness. All he wants is to make the fiery blonde his forever. But will he have to become the monster everyone thinks he is to get his Christmas wish?
My Rating and Review
I absolutely loved Grady and Emily’s story. J.S. Scott has a way of writing characters that draws you in and you can’t put the book down once you start. Perfect!
My name is Eva Morales, and I was one step away from being homeless when Trace Walker came into my life. I want to hate him because of my past, but I end up making what I consider a “devil’s bargain” with the arrogant young billionaire instead. Really, I have no choice. It’s either take the work he’s offering or starve, and I’ve been hungry long enough.
I didn’t think being his fake fiancee for the holidays would be a difficult job, but it ends up more complicated than I ever imagined, and I see a whole new side of Trace once he lets his guard down. He’s haunted by his past–just like me, But there are things I can never tell him, secrets I don’t dare reveal.
Eventually, I find myself in a difficult situation because our volatile attraction to each other won’t be denied. Should I tell him the truth, or do I finish the job he’s paying me for and walk away with my secrets still hidden, my pride still intact? He’s paying me enough for this job to take care of myself once it’s over. I’ve always been alone, and I always thought I preferred it…until I met Trace. I’d have to put everything on the line to be honest with him, but he very well might be the first man who is worth the risk. Honestly, I’d be endangering more than just my pride. I could handle feeling like a loser, because I’ve pretty much felt that way my entire life. What really terrifies me is being vulnerable and the possibility of ending up with a shattered heart….
My Rating and Review
I absolutely loved this book and again, J.S. Scott’s characters were perfect. I don’t want to give too much away because this is a definite must read, but Eva is strong and funny despite the crappy circumstances she found herself in, and Trace is an Alpha hero, but he’s hooked on Eva from the beginning. This was a great read and I can’t wait for another Walker novel, especially Dane’s!!
Hunter Winston has only one goal in life: to kill as many Evils as possible.
When Hunter is sent on a mission to find a mysterious female who can help the Sentinels finally win their battle against the Evils, he’s not happy about the errand interrupting his constant compulsion to kill the red-eyed, ugly evil demons. But he owes his brothers and their Sentinel king his life, so he hopes he can get the task done as soon as possible and return to his solitary life of wasting Evils again. How complicated can retrieving a single female be? Hunter is about to discover that a simple mission can become very…complicated!
The goddess, Athena, has been held prisoner for thousands of years. The time of the gods is long gone, and she’s ready to go to her final rest as soon as she knows the balance between good and evil is restored. Unfortunately, that isn’t what the Fates had planned for her thousands of years ago, and Athena has to make a choice that will affect her existence for eternity.
Can an angry Hunter and a virginal but powerful goddess embrace their destiny, or will the many forces working against them destroy their one shot at happiness?
My Rating and Review
Another wonderful book from J.S. Scott. The relationship between Hunter and Athena was perfect. Hunter believes that he is complete darkness, the essence of who he is, and Athena the goddess, who is pure light and made a sacrifice in order to rid the world from evils. Together, they are perfect! It’s a great read and I highly recommend it to any romance book lover!!
