 Favorite Reads – Rochelle Paige

When I select a book to read, I have to say that I tend to pick up an adult romance.  While I have read YA and even some New Adult romance books, I find that the romance in them is formulaic and unappealing.  The heroines in YA tend to be the same.  Strong and brilliant young women who have matured beyond their age because either their parents are immature and flighty so they have to be an adult in the relationship, or they have lost one parent and the other is so busy working that they ignore everything, including their daughter.  They have no interest in the guys in her school, especially the man that every girl in the school wants.  The heroes, on the other hand, have little actual depth and tend to be the hottest men on the planet.  The romance is angsty (which drives me crazy) and the conflict is weak.

There are exceptions to this rule and I am very glad that I was able to find Rochelle Paige and her wonderful New Adult romance books.

The heroines in a Rochelle Paige romance are strong, smart, sexy, and lovable.  The heroes are strong and know who they want and go after them without any compunction.  Below are three of the most fabulous books I’ve read in the New Adult Romance genre and I hope that you will enjoy them as much as I have.

Happy Reading!!

Push the Envelope

Description

Alexa is just your average college junior, attending classes and piloting Mile High Club charter flights. Boys haven’t been on her radar for a couple years after a disastrous breakup with her high school sweetheart. Her plans to focus on school hit a bit of a snag when she meets bad-boy Drake Bennett and he sets his sights on making her his own.

Drake transferred to Blythe College for the rugby team, not for a new assortment of college girls. He’s sexy and cocky, and he attracts women like moths to a flame. When he meets Alexa, Drake knows he’s met his match. She tries to resist him, but Drake isn’t used to taking no for an answer.

My Rating and Review

This is a refreshing New Adult book that I loved from Page one, and I usually abhor New Adult releases . Alexa is a strong heroine, a pilot who has a great business sense, a great friend, and a wonderful daughter. She is responsible and when she meets Drake, despite her instant attraction, she contemplates whether she even should get to know him. Drake is pushy and blunt, but once he gives his word, he doesn’t break it. Alexa and Drake’s relationship is intense, and the two characters are wonderful. The only thing I wish for was more from Drake’s POV, but it was a great story and I highly recommend it!!!

Hit the Wall

Description

Jackson thought he knew what love was and feels like he missed his chance at happiness. He realizes he wasted his chance by chasing after one-night stands instead of going after what he really wanted.

Kaylie knows what loss feels like and doesn’t want to take a chance on love. She puts up walls to keep her heart protected from experiencing that kind of pain again.

What happens when a guy who refuses to lose out again meets a girl who resists him as much as she can? Will Jackson be able to hit the wall Kaylie has put up and knock it down?

My Rating and Review

Although the book started off slowly with Jackson dealing with his feelings for his friend Lex, who is now with Drake, it picked up quickly after he’d asked her out on a date. Rochelle Paige writes blunt and honest characters, who I loved from the beginning of the book to the end. It was a great read, the 2nd of the series, I highly recommend it!

Outside the Box

Description

Aubrey earned her love ‘em and leave ‘em reputation with her serial dating past. A pregnancy scare makes her see the light and change her ways. She gets serious about school and stops dating – until she meets Luka and falls head over heels for him.

Luka doesn’t trust easily after having his heart crushed by the girl next door. When he meets Aubrey, he doesn’t think she’s relationship material because of her past – even though he’s drawn to her.

My Rating and Review

Again, Rochelle Paige creates stunning and believable characters that you would like to know in real life. Luka has no reason to trust again after his girlfriend of four years cheated on him throughout their time together, but he ran into Aubrey and although his attraction to him was immediate (as was hers) he took his time asking her out. When he did, their relationship was immediate and intense. This was another great read that I highly recommend!!
