Character Interview with Sloane from Beholden by Madison Michael
Welcome to the luxurious world of the Beguiling Bachelors, four young men who were born with everything – wealthy and powerful they have brains, breeding and devastatingly good looks. Each has achieved status and success on their own and women throw themselves at the men, hoping to win their hearts.
Today, meet Sloane, the woman who succeeded at catching the eye of not one, but two of our Beguiling Bachelors. Want more information about our Bachelors and about Sloane? Check out Bedazzled and Beholden. I think you will agree, she is quite a handful.
What impression do you make on people when they first meet you?
First, they see my beauty: my radiant complexion, my sleek dark hair, my toned body and of course my impeccable taste in clothes. People think I am cold and proud, but if they know my story, they see past my armor.
How about after they’ve known you for a while?
Well, if I let them get close, they will discover that I am smart, well educated and giving. I am involved in several charities around Chicago. If they get very, very close, they will discover my insecurities – but I hide them well, in general.
What is your profession?
I am the president of a highly successful jewelry business started by my dear friend Keeli Larson. You may have read about Keeli’s business in Bedazzled, also about how she stole my fiancé. She forgave me for trying to get her fired, and I got over her stealing my man.
Tell me about your best friend.
Randall would have to be my best friend, now that we are together. But before I succumbed to his charms, my mom was my best friend. She is a classy lady, soft on the outside, strong on the inside and very loving. It didn’t hurt that she spoiled me rotten as a child.
Describe your ideal mate.
Randall is my ideal mate. If it’s possible, he is smarter than me, but I never let him know I think so. He sees all my faults and loves me anyway for exactly who I am. He is a shoulder to lean on, the first person I want to share good news with and he’s handsome and sexy as hell. He treats me like a queen, but also like a woman. I love that about him.
What’s the most important thing in your life?
Family and friends. If you are familiar with my story, you know I did without both for a long time. I will never take them for granted again. And security. I had everything, then I had nothing and I hated feeling scared and vulnerable. I hated being shunned too, but that was nothing compared to fearing that I could not survive on my own.
Your thoughts on love?
I didn’t value it enough early on, but I have really come to understand that it is the foundation of my life – it gives me the security to be vulnerable and strong instead of proud and strong. It makes me a better person.
Your greatest extravagance?
The Lake Tahoe House. It’s too big for us and we only get to use it about two months out of the year but I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. For Randall and me, it is full of memories and love, and although, when we are very practical we discuss selling it, we both know that we never will.
Is there anything you haven’t done that you want to do?
Have lots and lots of children and spoil them all.
Your quirky habits?
I have a habit of eating off other people’s plates. Their food always looks better than mine.
What quality do you like most in a man/woman?
Loyalty. I am unfailingly loyal to my friends and family and I like the same from them.
What trait do you most despise?
Cheating. I cannot abide a person who cheats on their spouse.
What are you most afraid of?
Being alone and broke. Been there, done that and I never want to go there again.
What do you value the most?
Honestly. And money. What can I say, I like nice things. Just being honest
Junk food, preferably eaten while watching the Cubs beat the snot out of a visiting team.
What would you consider your perfect night out?
My perfect night out could be a charity event, especially one that is black tie. I usually buy a new dress and feel elegant. Randall looks fantastic in a tuxedo and we eat well, hang out with friends and do something good for charity.
What was your first thought or impression when you met the person you fell in love with?
I was impressed with Randall from the beginning. If you have read Bewildered you know how hard it was me to choose between Randall and his best friend Wyatt. Both men were wealthy, handsome and confident. And really smart.
What would you change about the person you fell in love with?
His sense of humor gets a bit annoying every once in a while, but I think that sarcasm might make him more lovable too.
What do you like most about the person you fell in love with?
His perseverance and focus. Randall is laser focused in his work, and very successful. When he turned that focus on me, added with his determination, he won my heart. He tackles all the problems that come our way and is a terrific problem solver. I rely on him so much and I can because of those two qualities. I love that he’s great in bed too – but that sounds a little shallow, doesn’t it?
What would you change about yourself?
Why nothing, of course. I’m perfect!
