People Who Inspire Me – Valerie Ullmer #MFRWAuthor

For the #MFRWAuthor 52-Week Blog hop, this week, week 44, A Person That Inspires Me.

I couldn’t only pick one person who inspires me.  Mainly because many people have inspired me throughout the years, some of them I’ve known and others I haven’t.
In school, there were a couple of teachers who inspired my love of books and history.  In college, I was inspired by those who were independent, those who knew what they wanted to do with their lives and worked toward their goals from day one.  For a long while, I had no idea what I wanted to do and what career I would be happy with.  Even after graduating and going out into the workforce, it took me years before I found what I truly wanted to do.
And since I began my writing career, it’s other writers that inspire me.  The many that share their stories of getting published, those who help their fellow authors be discovered, and support each other through the trials and tribulations of being a writer.
I’m also inspired by the books I’ve read.  Many times I’ve gotten an idea or realized why a character wasn’t working because of other writer’s books.
So thank you to all the writers out there that have supported me and your fellow authors.  We really appreciate it!
Thank you for stopping by!

This can be such a lonely path. You’re right that it is really helpful to hear about other author’s successes!

agree with Alina. We’re competitors for readers affections, but all hurt under a bad review. But I’ve never found a group more willing to share information.

It’s nice to find other authors helping each other. I saw a thing on Twitter today that said something like other authors are not my competition. I stand with them not against them.

I’ve written in several genres and even some non-fiction, and in my experience, romance writers in particular are eager to help other writers.
